School Setup

School Setup

Once in School Setup the user will go to the School Setup menu and complete the following information:

School Term Dates:

The SIMON Administrator will set the Default term dates using this module. Under the "Term Dates Type" list each year level can have its own dates. This is very important at the end of the year as each year level finishes the resource bookings will look at the year level classes of each subject and remove them form the bookings as they finish, freeing up resources for other year levels.

Campuses:

The SIMON Administrator in this module will add the various campuses of the school. When adding campuses the user will be required to add a campus code and campus related details.

There is also the ability to edit campus details. The staff and year levels associated with each campus are assigned here.

NOTE: When a multi-campus school is configured, the timetable import will require the campus code to be present. (See Timetable Import)

Year Levels:

The SIMON Administrator in this module will choose the year levels relevant to the school...

...and enter relevant details, such as year level coordinator and campus, as appropriate.

Houses:

This module will allow the SIMON Administrator to maintain the Houses within the school...

...by adding new Houses...

NOTE: The House Codes used here must match the House Codes used in the School Administration package and Student Import file.

...or editing existing Houses.

Homerooms:

The SIMON Administrator in this module will add the various Homerooms within the school. These entries are semester based and can be rolled over to each new semester (see Rollover).

Here you can add new Homerooms...

NOTE: The Homeroom Codes used here must match the Homeroom Codes used in the School Administration package and Student Import file.

...or edit existing Homerooms.

Domain Components:

In this module the SIMON Administrator will add the various Domain Components used within the school. These Domain Components are where the Faculty and Key Learning Areas (KLA) are organised. This will allow the SIMON Administrator to grant access to appropriate users to modules such as the Learning Areas, Booklists and Student Assessment.

In this module the SIMON Administrator will be able to add new Domain Components...

NOTE: It is important that a "Domain Coordinator" is assigned here once a new Domain Component has been created.

...and edit existing Domain Components

Schools:

Schools are a handy way of dividing the secondary school structure.  By assigning Year Levels to an appropriate School, the user will be able to generate School division based timetables as needed rather than having to generate all year levels. In this module the SIMON Administrator will maintain School divisions.

It is possible to add new schools...

...or edit existing schools.

NOTE: It is not necessary to have a Head of School assigned, however, it is necessary for any new Year Level to be assigned to a school.
